The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has rejected the adoption of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for elective public offices ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying Nigeria’s religious and ethnic diversity should be reflected in its leadership.

The Christian body said inclusive governance is essential for promoting national unity, equity and a sense of belonging among citizens.

In a statement issued after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, PFN National Publicity Secretary, Dr Sylvanus Ukafia, said the fellowship remained committed to Nigeria’s unity, peace and progress.

The group stressed that justice, fairness, respect for the Constitution and the rule of law are critical to the country’s development.

The PFN also opposed any proposed law aimed at restricting Christian preaching, describing such measures as unconstitutional.

It argued that while government has the responsibility to maintain public order, regulations should not be used to suppress religious freedom or infringe on the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

The fellowship urged governments at all levels to protect the rights of every Nigerian regardless of faith and avoid policies that could fuel religious division.

It also called on Christians to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and prayerful, while encouraging dialogue among government, religious leaders and civil society to strengthen national cohesion.
