President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), with effect from August 27, 2026.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Enitan will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
An indigene of Osun State, Enitan is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the federal civil service.
He has spent seven years and seven months as a Permanent Secretary, serving in key positions at the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
President Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her years of dedicated service and her contributions to reforms, innovations and improvements within the Civil Service during her tenure.
The President also wished her success and fulfilment in retirement, while expressing appreciation for her years of service to the country.
Tinubu charged Enitan to build on the reforms and innovations already introduced into the Civil Service, while promoting professionalism, efficiency and accountability.
He further tasked the incoming HCSF with leading a merit-based, innovative and responsive Civil Service capable of effectively meeting the needs and aspirations of Nigerians and supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
