Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his condolences to Lionel Messi following the death of Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, at the age of 68.
Ronaldo offered words of support to his long-time football rival after Messi shared an emotional tribute to his late father. He urged Messi to stay strong “during the difficult moment”.
Jorge Messi, who played a major role in his son’s career and served as his representative and adviser, died last week in Rosario, Argentina. Messi subsequently travelled to Argentina for his father’s funeral before returning to the United States.
In his tribute, Messi reflected on his father’s enormous influence on his life and career. He also admitted that the loss had made him question his future in football.
