A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has remanded a disqualified All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Abimbola Olajumoke, in custody for one month over allegations of defamation, cyberbullying and kidnapping.

The case was instituted by the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Agro-Allied Limited, Yemisi Joluwe.

Chief Magistrate Abayin Adeosun had earlier granted Olajumoke bail but revoked the order after she failed to appear in court at the subsequent sitting.

She was subsequently arrested and detained, while the court adjourned the case until September 15.

Joluwe said she approached the court over alleged false statements which she claimed had damaged the reputation of her company and affected members of staff.

She maintained that YSJ Farms welcomed legitimate criticism but would not allow what she described as malicious allegations to undermine its reputation.

Joluwe said the company was seeking a retraction, public apology and appropriate damages over the alleged defamatory statements.

She added that the legal action had not affected the company’s operations, saying YSJ Farms remained focused on its agricultural activities and youth empowerment programmes in Ekiti State.

She said the company was working with the Ekiti State Government and security agencies to protect its workers and farm clusters.

Joluwe assured that the safety of the company’s workers remained a priority, adding that youths participating in its agricultural programmes were continuing their activities across the farms.
