Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied entering into any electoral agreement or alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before, during or after the recent governorship poll in the state.
Adeleke made the clarification in a statement issued on Tuesday, following claims by the ADC that it worked with his Accord Party to prevent the All Progressives Congress from winning the election.
The governor attributed his re-election to God and the support of the people of Osun State.
Adeleke said the ADC was not part of the coalition that mobilised support for his campaign ahead of the election.
He, however, expressed appreciation to the political partners and stakeholders who supported his campaign and contributed to his victory.
The governor said their commitment and efforts were instrumental to the outcome of the exercise.
Adeleke said the election was over and pledged to serve all residents of Osun State regardless of their political affiliation, religion or ethnic background.
He also promised to promote unity and continue working towards the development and prosperity of the state.
Skyline News reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke winner of the keenly-contested poll.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), after results from all 30 local government areas were collated at the state collation centre in Osogbo.
The incumbent governor polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji recorded 444,815 votes. The result gave Adeleke a lead of 66,252 votes over his APC challenger.
Adeleke also won in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victories in the remaining 11 LGAs.
