Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has stepped down from his position following discussions with the club’s hierarchy, bringing an end to his spell in charge ahead of the new Premier League season.
According to Sky Sports, Howe’s decision was influenced by concerns over the club’s transfer activities after the departures of key players, including Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. Club captain Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a possible move to Arsenal.
Although Newcastle have strengthened their squad with the signings of Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim, Sean Steur from Ajax and goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims, the club missed out on Swiss international Johan Manzambi, who opted to join Aston Villa.
The Magpies have begun the search for a new manager, with sporting director Ross Wilson and chief executive David Hopkinson leading the recruitment process as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.
