Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, have rescued two young Fulani herders who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in a forest along the Ondo–Edo State boundary.
The victims were reportedly grazing their cattle in the Owo forest when they were seized by their captors. Their disappearance raised concerns among family members, who alerted the Amotekun Corps after the herders failed to return home.
Acting on the distress report, Amotekun operatives launched a coordinated search operation into the forest, leading to the successful rescue of the victims. The operation was carried out without harm to the rescued herders.
The Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting all residents of the state, irrespective of their ethnic or religious background. He urged members of the public to continue providing timely information that could assist security agencies in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The successful rescue has been commended by residents, who described the operation as another demonstration of the corps’ determination to strengthen security across the state.
Authorities also reiterated their resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements from forests and other hideouts.
The rescue underscores the growing collaboration between local communities and security agencies in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state, the corps stated.
