Russia have boosted their confidence ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Nigeria after securing a convincing 6-0 victory over Namibia on Saturday.
The hosts went into the break with a narrow 1-0 advantage but stepped up their performance after the interval in Yekaterinburg to record a commanding win.
Lechi Sadulaev opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Danil Prutsev doubled Russia’s advantage nine minutes into the second half.
Konstantin Tyukavin increased the lead to 3-0 in the 65th minute, while Maksim Glushenkov added another six minutes before the end of regulation time.
Maksim Petrov converted a penalty three minutes later to make it 5-0, before Namibia’s Kamaijanda Ndisiro inadvertently scored an own goal during stoppage time to complete the heavy defeat.
Russia will now shift their focus to Tuesday’s friendly against the Super Eagles at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Nigeria’s last encounter with Russia ended in a 1-1 draw in June 2025, after Tolu Arokodare cancelled out Semi Ajayi’s own goal.
