Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has directed political appointees who are unhappy with his administration to step down from their respective positions.
Lawal made the remarks on Saturday during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Gusau.
The governor was responding to concerns raised by some party stakeholders, including political appointees, youths and women, who complained of being overlooked and receiving inadequate welfare support.
“There are some political office holders who complain that they have not gotten anything. That is not true. Even among the commissioners, anyone who feels he is not getting anything should resign,” Lawal said.
He also appealed to APC members in Zamfara to put aside factional interests and unite under the party, stressing the need for members to pursue a common political direction.
“From today, please, let us stop the politics of so-and-so’s houses. Let us come together as one party with the same vision. The talk of Dauda’s house, Matawalle’s house or Shehi’s house should stop,” he said.
Lawal further disclosed that he would engage with former governors of the state to reconcile differences and jointly compile the names of members to serve on the APC campaign council ahead of the 2027 elections.
