Flight operations of Air Peace have been disrupted nationwide following a protest by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, who reportedly shut the airline’s terminals across the country.

The disruption was reported at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday was unable to take off.

Similar disruptions were reported at airports across the country as union members reportedly placed Air Peace facilities under lock and key.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development.

Achimugu said the disruption was related to a labour union action but added that he would provide further details after arriving at the airport.

Passengers were left stranded at the Lagos Airport as flights were delayed by the protest.

One passenger, who identified himself on X as YoufoundAlex, said he was unable to leave Lagos for Abuja, where he had a 9 a.m. appointment, due to the disruption.

As of the time of filing the report, Air Peace management had yet to issue an official statement on the development.
