Cameroon have advanced to the semi finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after defeating defending champions Nigeria 1-0 in their quarter final clash in Casablanca on Sunday.
Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen scored the only goal in the 19th minute at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium to give Cameroon the lead.
The Super Falcons dominated much of the latter stages of the first half and continued to search for an equaliser after the break but could not find a way past the Cameroonian defence.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s defence of the WAFCON title and also denied the team automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, which is reserved for the four semi finalists.
Cameroon will face hosts Morocco in the semi final after Morocco defeated South Africa 2-1 in their quarter final.
