The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for a second term.
The Chairman of the forum and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, conveyed the congratulatory message in a statement on Sunday.
The NGF said Adeleke’s achievements and personality contributed to his victory in Saturday’s closely contested election.
The forum also commended the people of Osun State for their large turnout during the election, describing the interest generated by the poll as a sign of the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy.
It acknowledged the role of opposition parties in strengthening the country’s democratic process and commended all candidates who participated in the exercise.
The governors also praised security agencies for containing the violence reported in the days leading up to the poll and creating a relatively secure environment for voters.
The forum further commended President Bola Tinubu for what it described as a statesmanlike approach to the election, saying he balanced his role as leader of the ruling party with his responsibility as president.
The NGF expressed confidence that Adeleke would build on the achievements of his first term and continue working in the interest of the people of Osun State.
