The Action Alliance (AA), led by its National Chairman, Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze, has faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged omission of the party’s presidential candidate and other nominees from the published list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The party described the action as unlawful and a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic process.
In a statement on Saturday, the party said its candidates were duly nominated by the National Executive Committee under Chief Udeze, whose leadership, it said, had been affirmed by the Court of Appeal.
The party argued that INEC’s decision to exclude its nominees amounted to a disregard for valid court judgments and the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
The party further accused the electoral commission of undermining the rule of law and setting a dangerous precedent by allegedly ignoring judicial decisions.
According to the party, the exclusion of its candidates raises concerns about the credibility and integrity of the country’s electoral system.
Action Alliance called on INEC to withdraw the published list and replace it with one reflecting the candidates nominated by the Chief Kenneth Udeze-led leadership within 48 hours.
The party warned that it would pursue all available legal options, including contempt proceedings, if the commission failed to comply, while urging the media, civil society organisations and the international community to monitor the situation closely.
