President Bola Tinubu has declared that he is prepared to contest the 2027 presidential election and will not make it easy for his political opponents to unseat him.
Speaking on Tuesday while receiving members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu said politics is a contest in which every aspirant has an equal opportunity to seek office.
He maintained that those seeking to unseat him would have to earn victory at the polls.
The president also defended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the electoral body as neutral.
He said he was ready for the 2027 contest and would not give his opponents any advantage.
The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, with Tinubu seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He will face candidates from other parties, including former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
