The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its National Campaign Council and several sub committees ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma appointed to lead the council.
The party said the move was part of its preparations to coordinate campaign activities and mobilise support for its candidate in the off-cycle governorship poll.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the party, the council was constituted through a notice signed by its National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
The campaign council has Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas as co-chairmen.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as deputy chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin is the council’s secretary.
It said the council comprised governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other party stakeholders from across the country.
The party also announced the establishment of specialised sub committees to oversee election planning, finance, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, media and publicity, security, youth and women’s mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, monitoring and compliance, protocol and secretariat functions.
The National Campaign Council and its sub committees will be inaugurated on July 28 in Abuja.
