A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for their roles in the Oriire school abduction case after finding them guilty of concealing information about the masterminds of the attack.

The convicts had earlier pleaded guilty to charges filed by the Federal Government, admitting during proceedings that they withheld information about those behind the kidnapping of pupils in Oriire, Oyo State.

The defendants, who appeared before Justice Salem Ibrahim, also admitted to being members of Darul Salam, a group linked to the proscribed terrorist organisation, Ansaru.

Two of the convicts, Abdulrazak Umar and Shamsudin Adamu, further pleaded guilty to providing training, issuing instructions and using a WhatsApp group known as “The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace” to encourage members to engage in terrorist activities.

Abdulrazak Umar also admitted to illegally mining gold in streams within the Chaza area of Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State without lawful authorisation.

Following their guilty pleas, the court sentenced the three convicts to life imprisonment.
