Manchester United have begun selling sections of the historic Old Trafford pitch, with each 7x7cm piece going for £125, according to BBC Sport on Thursday.
The initial batch of turf, preserved in glass cubes and packaged in black cases, has already been completely sold out.
The move comes as the club continues to deal with an overall debt of more than £1 billion.
United reported record revenue of £677.6 million and an operating profit of £22.6 million for the 2025-26 financial year. However, the club still recorded a pre-tax loss of £43 million.
The club also disclosed that £63.5 million had been spent on purchasing land for a proposed new stadium, with the planned development expected to cost more than £2 billion.
The Old Trafford pitch was removed during the summer for the first time in 14 years, with the surface stripped down to its foundation.
Some portions of the pitch were retained and preserved as memorabilia for supporters.
The club has described the glass cubes containing the turf as a “priceless memento” of memorable matches played at Old Trafford and an opportunity for fans to preserve their matchday memories.
The sale gives supporters an opportunity to own a small piece of the stadium that has welcomed generations of Manchester United players and hosted some of the club’s most memorable encounters.
