The Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to upload and adopt the modified digital logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Former Bayelsa State Governor and NDC leader, Seriake Dickson, revealed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Dickson said the ruling, delivered by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, was the outcome of a legal action instituted by the party seeking an order compelling INEC to recognise and use the revised logo contained in its constitution rather than the association logo under which the party was originally registered.
He explained that the NDC’s first National Executive Council, NEC, meeting endorsed the revised logo and submitted it to INEC, which had initially uploaded the design.
“However, both logos retain the two-finger victory sign. Candidates should now transition to the logo approved in our party’s constitution, which is the authentic party logo and, indeed, the one that is more widely recognised.”
Dickson said the disagreement surrounding the party’s logo was among what he described as “administrative machinations” that the party had continued to encounter.
