Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to resume competitive football with immediate effect after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) partially upheld his appeal against a four-year doping ban.
The 25-year-old Ukraine international had been sidelined since November 2024 after the Football Association provisionally suspended him following an adverse analytical finding for the banned substance meldonium.
He was later handed the maximum four-year suspension before challenging the decision at CAS.
According to the ruling, CAS allowed Mudryk to return to action after he admitted to breaching anti-doping regulations and agreed to a suspension equivalent to the period he had already spent out of competitive football.
The decision makes him immediately eligible to play.
Chelsea welcomed the verdict, saying the club looks forward to helping the winger regain full fitness and reintegrate into the first-team squad.
Mudryk is expected to join the club’s pre-season tour as he begins preparations for his return to competitive action.
Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 in a deal worth up to £89 million.
The CAS ruling gives the forward an opportunity to revive his career at Stamford Bridge after nearly two years on the sidelines.
