The Rivers State Government has denied reports of a renewed disagreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the delay in passing the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The government described the reports as misleading, saying the budget proposal was still undergoing the required legislative process.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, said in a statement on Wednesday that Fubara was working closely with the lawmakers for the development of the state.
He said the governor had presented the 2026 budget proposal to the House of Assembly and that the document was currently being considered in line with established procedures.
Nzeshi urged those promoting what he described as negative narratives to stop, saying Rivers State needed peace and stability for development.
The clarification follows renewed attention to the relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.
