French football icon Zinedine Zidane is set to become the new head coach of the French national team after reportedly signing a contract that will keep him in the role until June 2030.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development on Tuesday, saying the former Real Madrid manager has agreed to take over the national side and will be formally presented in the coming days.
Romano said the appointment has been confirmed, with Zidane preparing to return to management role after years away from the dugout.
The 54-year-old has long been linked with the France job and is expected to succeed Didier Deschamps, who has led Les Bleus since 2012.
Zidane enjoyed a highly successful spell at Real Madrid, winning three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles among other major honours.
His appointment is expected to usher in a new era for the 2018 World Cup winners as they begin preparations for future international tournaments.
